The artwork to Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ that has been circulating online may not be the final album cover – according to the band’s artist Stanley Donwood.
Donwood was asked by Radiohead fansite greenplastic.com whether the official artwork was online yet. In typical ambiguous Radiohead style, he replied: “Not yet. Maybe soonish, maybe not. Going to ‘think about it.’” Hmmm.
Anyway, to keep Radiohead fans amused in the meantime, a website has been set up here which hosts some alternate and rather fetching designs for the cover of ‘In Rainbows.’
Gigwise personally thinks Radiohead should ditch the current cover and replace it with the one above.

If they’re gonna be all ’breaking new ground’ and ’new model for the industry’ about it why have an album cover at all?

- Because album art isn’t related to what’s wrong with the record industry. It wouldn’t do anything to not have album artwork.
Plus, the art’s always seemed pretty important to Radiohead. And, you know, it’s pretty.

- I don’t think the cover should have anything to do with rainbows. That’s just too fruity for Radiohead. The whole rainbows thing is probably a metaphor anyway.

- maybe it should be a cdr in a used plastic bag. cassette tape, unmarked, in a box MADE of used cdr’s???? stop me.
