Ray Davies is set to follow in the footsteps of Prince by releasing his new album ‘Working Man’s Café’ completely free with a Sunday paper.
The Sunday Times will be giving away a copy of his second solo effort with every paper on October 21.
Speaking of the move, The Kinks legend said: “Personally, it’s about reaching as many people as possible. I’m incredibly proud of this LP and am truly excited that 1.5 million copies will be distributed to people who’ll hear it organically – the way it was intended. It’s an exciting opportunity I couldn’t resist.”
Differing from Prince’s deal, Davies’ label V2 Records have worked directly with The Sunday Times to make the special release possible.
The label will still be releasing a physical version of the album on October 29 featuring two bonus tracks. A free download of the song ‘Vietnam Cowboys’ is available to download HERE from October 14.
