Sting has been voted the ‘Worst Lyricist Of All Time’ in a new poll.
The Police frontman topped the list, which also included Noel Gallagher (Number 4) and Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant (Number 23).
According to Blender, Sting came top for name-dropping Russian novelist Vladimir Nabokov in The Police’s "Don't Stand So Close to Me’ and for quoting a Volvo bumper sticker in ‘If You Love Someone Set Them Free.’
Meanwhile, Gallagher was included because he "seemed incapable of following a metaphor through a single line, let alone a whole verse."
The complete top 5 in the poll featured Sting at number 1, Rush drummer Neil Peart at Number 2, Creed’s Scott Stapp at number 3, Gallagher at Number 4 and Dan Fogelberg at Number 5.
