No surprises at all really, but Amy Winehouse and Arctic Monkeys were both big winners at the Q Awards this afternoon.
The Monkeys walked away with the Best Act award, while Winehouse scooped the Best Album gong for ‘Back To Black.’
Other big winners at the lunchtime ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel were Muse (Best Live Act), Manic Street Preachers (Best Single for ‘Your Love Alone Is Not Enough’) and Kate Nash (Best Breakthrough Act).
Elsewhere, The Enemy were hailed as the Best New Act, Billy Bragg was handed the Songwriter Award, while Sigur Ros were recognised for their innovation of sound.
Q Legend was James Brown, Icon of the Year was Sir Paul McCartney and Damon Albarn took the award for inspiration.
Peter Hook was present at the ceremony to hand the Anthony Wilson’s Hero Award to his family. Look out on Gigwise for our upcoming feature with the former New Order man.
