BBC Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley has been forced to apologise on air after a member of BBC staff posed as a caller on her radio show.
The incident, which happened in April last year, has led to a number of BBC staff being sanctioned for awarding a ‘winner’ fictional CDs.
Wiley said on air this morning (October 3rd): “It was wrong, and for that we are sorry."
It’s understood that the DJ was not aware of the incident at the time – which happened on a specially pre-recorded edition of her radio show.
Although her 10am-12.45pm slot usually airs live, on this occasion she had to attend the opening of the refurbished Broadcasting House in London, reports the BBC.
The incident on Whiley’s show is the latest abuse of trust from the BBC, who were fined earlier this year for fabrications on the children's television show, Blue Peter.

- She looks dodgy, you can see it in her eyes

- Its O.K.! She gets away with things like this because She invented the Wheel, the TV & the Test Tube Baby. At least you’d think she did if you listened to her inane ramblings! Oh to be Perfect like Jo!!!!!

That’s OK Jo, we forgive you! *eyelashes flutter in adoration*
She must have known it wasn’t a proper caller if it was pre-recorded. How could someone enter a comp when it isn’t even on the radio yet????
- She is being protected by the BBC,thats why.
Others have to take the blame but not she.
Is she more important than someone else below the greasy pole
