Beatles legend Ringo Starr has been confirmed as the headline act of the opening ceremony celebrating Liverpool’s Capital Culture status next year.
The 67-year-old drummer and Thomas The Tank Engine narrator will appear at the Kings Docks arena with The Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart and former Lightning Seed Ian Broudie in support.
An extensive programme of events will be announced later this afternoon, but already confirmed is an opera based on the Adelphi Hotel.
Hollyoaks and Brookside creator Phil Redmond is the creative force behind booking events for the Capital of Culture.
There's no word as to whether they have attempted to get Sir Paul McCartney on board.
