Any chance of mega stardom has long since evaporated for Turin Brakes. They really have not helped themselves in this by getting caught up in the horrendous new acoustic movement of 2003 and generally being dullards. Nevertheless, their music continues to win them critical acclaim and ‘Stalker’ is an introspective effort lying somewhere between latter Ashcroft and David Gray’s better moments. Whilst it is all slightly predictable, it is refreshing to see the group trying to change their sound and give us something new rather then some of the Chili’s-esque drivel that they have thrown on us in the past.
Released 17/09/07 on EMI.
