‘Your Song’ is the latest release to come from the much hyped singer/songwriter Kate Walsh and it’s one of those gentle songs that you might hear on the radio but wouldn’t rush out to buy it.
There’s a very calm folk element to the music emphasised by the use of simple guitars and refrains that combine and build up into a quiet crescendo of harmonies and it’s held beautifully by Walsh’s delicate vocals. The charm of ‘Your Song’ lies in its simplicity and its finesse but whilst it’s clear that it is a good tune and Kate Walsh is gifted it just is not the type of song that grabs your attention and makes you remember it after the last notes have died away.
Released 01/10/07 on Mercury Records.
