Despite downloading being constantly on the increase, there’s little doubting that an album’s artwork can sometimes be as memorable as the music it contains.
In the next instalment of our gallery series, we’ve polled Gigwise staff and freelance writers to see what their greatest album covers of all time.
Some are in the list because of their sheer simplicity (Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’), some for their complexity (Nick Drake’s ‘Pink Moon’), some for their sexiness (Roxy Music’s ‘Country Life’) while others are just damn scary (see above).
It’s a mix of old and new, some surprises and classics, but as always it’s bound to be a bit contentious.
