Mastodon Singer Suffers Brain Haemorrhage After Fight

Mastodon vocalist Brent Hinds has suffered a brain haemorrhage following an alleged fight with System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian and musician William Hudson after the MTV Music Awards on September 10.

The fight is believed to have ensued in the early hours of the morning after Hinds reportedly “took off his shirt and hit Odadjian with it, then struck Hudson in both the face and chest, prompting Odadjian to advise Hinds 'to relax' several times.”

A Las Vegas police report explains that the singer bumped into Odadjian and Hudson in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino valet area.

After Hinds made the initial attack “both Odadjian and Hudson punched Hinds in the face, knocking him to the ground. An unidentified friend of Hinds, who reportedly witnessed the event, rushed to the musician's aid and apologized to Odadjian and Hudson, saying Hinds was 'just drunk’.”

As well as suffering the brain injury Hinds also received a broken nose and two black eyes, reports the Las Vegas weekly.

There have been no charges filled at present, however the police report lists Odadjian as a ‘witness’ and “Hudson as a suspect, facing a possible charge of battery with substantial bodily harm.”
Hinds is apparently recovering from his injuries well after being released from the University Medical Centre of Southern Nevada on Friday September 14.

A publicist for Mastodon stated that “Brent has begun writing and wants to just put all this past him for the moment.”
