Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant is trying to convince the rest of his bandmates to play a special show at Belfast’s Ulster Hall, according to reports.
As previously reported, the band have reformed to play a unique tribute concert at the O2 Arena in London on November 26th in memory of Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun.
It’s understood that Plant wants the band to play the show in Belfast when the Ulster Hall re-opens in November 2008.
The venue was where the group first played their smash hit, ‘Stairway To Heaven,’ in 1971, at a concert held for the late Jim Aiken.
It’s was the crowd’s reaction to the song that night which convinced the band that it should be recorded upon their return to London, reports the Belfast Telegraph.
The Ulster Hall was the scene of a huge celebration in 1996, where fans gathered to mark the 25th anniversary of, ‘Stairway To Heaven.’
Meanwhile, fans wanting to apply for tickets to the band’s one-off show in London have until tomorrow (September 19th) to register for tickets. To enter the public ballot, click here.
