Kid Acne's ‘Sliding Doors’ boasts an alternative sound that is akin to an English version of Beastie Boys but it doesn’t quite hit the mark. This song isn’t a stand out record partly because it sounds so much like the Beastie Boys, if the lyrics were better than “I like beans/I like sauce/I like sexual intercourse” then it might have a harder edge. It’s just another alternative rap song that might do alright in the charts but doesn’t go any further than that, partly because the music itself it quite woozy and drowns out the vocals which need to be at the forefront for this type of song to work. ‘Sliding Doors’ just doesn’t have that hook that grabs you and makes you want to listen to it and the other four remixes that accompanies this release. ‘Fantasy Rapp II’ is pretty much the same thing but the vocals are louder and it doesn’t sound more like a rap song than ‘Sliding Doors’ but again it’s nothing worth getting worked up about.
