Kanye West Beats 50 Cent In Battle For Number One

Kanye West has beaten 50 Cent to number one in their much-hyped chart battle this week.

As early forecasts had predicted, Kanye’s ‘Graduation’ ultimately outsold ‘Curtis’ despite Fiddy’s stubborn claims that he would be victorious.

Sales figures in the US also suggest that with around 700,000 sales predicted, Kanye will also claim the top spot over there. Fiddy had vowed that he will retire from making albums if Kanye wins - it remains to be seen whether this will be the case.

The singles chart followed a similar pattern with Kanye at three with ‘Stronger’ and  50 Cent’s ‘Ayo Technology’ at five.  Sean Kingston remained at one with ‘Beautiful Girls.’

The only other chart positions of note are Pavarotti who climbed 12 places to 12 with ‘Nessun Dorma’ and another posthumous entry from Marc Bolan, 30 years after his death at 15.
