The deadline to apply for tickets to see Led Zeppelin perform at the O2 Arena in London has been extended until next Wednesday (September 19th).
The online registration system had been due to close at midday on Monday (September 17th) but will now remain open for an extra 48 hours because of the huge demand for tickets.
Since it opened at 4pm on Wednesday, the website has already received 25 million applications for tickets, with the site reporting 120 million hits yesterday alone.
People will be notified after October 1st if they have been lucky enough to grab a pair of tickets to the special tribute concert.
In a statement, the concerts promoter, Harvey Goldsmith explained the reasons for the extension to the ticket deadline.
"In order to ensure as many fans as possible are able to enter the ballot we have decided to extend the closing of the ballot from midday Monday 17th to midday Wednesday 19th,” explained Goldsmith.
"To the thousands of fans that have already registered, we thank you for your support of the Tribute To Ahmet Ertegun Concert and we continue to do our best to ensure that tickets for this show go directly to you and don't end up in the hands of the unscrupulous touts."
Tickets for the show – which will also feature Pete Townshend and Bill Wyman – will cost £125 each.

- After all these years I knew Led Zeppelin were still the most popular band in the world, and this confirms it. And remember this is only 75% of the mighty Led Zeppelin, the greatest rock drummer that ever lived, John Bonham, won’t be there.

- It’s so bloody obvious. Sit back and watch, the greatest band ever to produce music is about to deliver AGAIN!

- Robert,Jimmy and John Paul Congratulations You deserve it !!

- Led Zeppelin are FAR more popular now, than they were in 1980. Their European tour of 1980 barely caused a stir, now look at demand in 2007! Absolutely amazing, the power and glory of Led Zeppelin is to return!

- I’m rather confused about the ticket situation but maybe I’m being naive. They are being sold by ticket companies for up to £2000. How can this be?
