A music producer is taking legal action against 50 Cent and Lil Kim over a song the two performers collaborated on in 2003.
New York producer Carlos Evans claims that Atlantic Records owe him royalties for the song, ‘Magic Stick,’ which reached number two on America’s Billboard Top-100 chart.
Evans claims that he’s still owed money for his production work on the track. A representative of 50 Cent has said, however, that Evans will get his royalties once a sample he used is paid for, reports the BBC.
The producer filed the lawsuit at Manhattan's state Supreme Court yesterday (September 13th) claiming he’d received nothing for the song but his initial advance of $7,500 from Rotten Apple Records, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records.
A spokesperson Rotten Apple told AP that the music producer would get his royalties once Atlantic Records had "straightened out" their accounts.
Evan’s is seeking $2 million in damages from the label.
