Peter Hook has responded to suggestions that New Order are to re-unite for a special concert in honour of Tony Wilson.
Despite their apparent ‘split’ earlier this year, rumours began to circulate on Tuesday (September 11th) that the band were to re-unite after Hook revealed that the late Tony Wilson’s son, Oliver, had asked him what the chances of New Order reforming would be.
In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, Hook said: "The idea has been mooted by Oliver (Tony Wilson's son) - that was when it was talked about. And the thing is, for Tony, I'd do anything.”
Posting yesterday on his myspace blog yesterday (September 12th), Hook said that people had taken his latter statement too literally.
“This means I would sell the popcorn, take the tickets, sweep up after, play bass in New Order/Joy Division/Crawling Chaos.”
He continued: “I do wish that people would read things properly before mouthing off. I am definitely going to have to learn to keep my big fat mouth shut (but I blame the bloody press!). And as Tony would say "**** em!"
Tony Wilson - who died of a heart attack in August – was responsible for bringing both of Hook’s bands, Joy Division and New Order to public prominence.
