Brian Wilson To Perform With Sir Paul McCartney This Week

Rumours are rife...

The rivalry of two of pop music’s greatest ever songwriters is likely to end this week as Sir Paul McCartney looks certain to join Brian Wilson for a duet at The Royal Festival Hall following Wilson’s performance of a Beatles classic last night.

Wilson debuted new song cycle ‘That Lucky Old Sun’ and ended the set with a cover of The Beatles classic ‘Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band’.

It has also been confirmed by festival insiders that Sir Paul has been approached to play on Thursday night (September 13).

The friendly competition of the 60s and trying to outdo one another has left the pair good friends even though it was reported that ‘Sgt. Peppers’ had contributed to the retirement of Wilson and the demise of his mental health.

Wilson’s tour continues tonight and throughout September.

  • Brian is not playing on Thursday night. Check the listings for shows that are actually scheduled. Last night was fabulous.

  • it was drugs (lots of LSD) and a father that was incapable of loving his son that caused Brian Wilson’s breakdown, not Sgt. Pepper! Nameless, you obviously know NOTHING about Paul McCartney.

  • Brian and Paul already worked together on the absolutely insipid ”A Friend Like You” on the rather awful ”Getting In Over My Head” Album. It was as if they decided to ignore their greatest skills, and instead focused on Brian’s most mediocre songsriting and Paul’s ability to write really annoying sugary vocal parts, neither of which really represent their best work. A shame really - they could potentially do some great work together!
