The Gossip singer Beth Ditto has slammed the male-orientated music business for writing out female singers contribution to the industry.
The outspoken frontwoman says the musical canon is nominated by male musicians such as the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, whilst female performers are sidelined.
She says, "It's as if Patti Smith, Janis Joplin and Etta James never existed."
