Beastie Boys have told Gigwise that they will be playing two shows at this weekend’s Bestival music festival on the Isle of Wight.
As well as headlining the main stage on the Saturday (September 8th), the band will also play a special show on Sunday.
Beastie Boy Mike D said that the inspiration for the two shows had come from their two night residency at London's Brixton Academy earlier this week.
“By doing two shows in Brixton, there are songs we have to play and then there’s a bunch of other songs that we can also throw in and we can kind of switch it up. With the gala event shows, that’s switching it up again and getting to play songs we wouldn’t ordinarily get to play in a show.
“The Sunday (at Bestival) will be like the gala event show. It’s also interesting, it’s almost like you’re accessing a different part of your brain somehow - it’s definitely a different kind of mentality for each show.”
Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch added: “It’s like a show that’s based around the instruments, but its not all instrumental, maybe half instrumental.”
Beastie Boys will join The Chemical Brothers and Primal Scream as the main headliners at this weekend’s Bestival.
