Iron Maiden have announced a year long world tour - which gets underway in Australia next February.
The ‘Somewhere Back In Time’ tour will feature three parts – the first featuring concerts across five continents, including, India, North America and Australia over a seven week period.
The band’s four shows in Australia - which begin in Perth on February 4th - will be the first time that the veteran rock band have played in the country for fifteen years.
From Australia the tour will see the band travel to America in May before playing the summer festival circuit. The dates for these shows have yet to be confirmed.
Iron Maiden will travel over 100,000 miles during the tour playing to over one and a half million fans.
The first leg of the tour will see the band travel with their sixty strong crew in a specially commissioned and converted Astraeus Boeing 757 decorated with Iron Maiden artwork.
The band’s frontman, Bruce Dickinson, who is a qualified pilot, will fly the plane during the initial leg of the tour.
Dickinson said that, as well enabling him to combine his two passions, having their own plane will allow the band to monitor their carbon footprint.
“We can even work out exactly how big our carbon footprint is and take care of that responsibility,” said the vocalist. “We will be packing as much of the show into the plane as we possibly can for this first leg and intend to give the fans something very special to remember. And it allows me to combine 2 of my greatest passions, music and flying!!”
Iron Maiden’s Australian tour dates are as follows:
Perth, Burswood Dome – February 4
Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena – 6
Sydney, Acer Arena – 9
Brisbane, Entertainment Centre - 12
