The Enemy have slammed the Mercury Music Prize, saying that they couldn’t give a shit about the gong.
Frontman Tom Clarke rubbished the award – won by an elated Klaxons last night - because it is voted by a panel of music industry figures rather than the general public.
Speaking to Orange World, he said: “I don't give a shit about them. I really couldn't be arsed what a bunch of journalists decide who should win an award, when you've got awards that are voted for by people then fair play because they're the people that matter.
“They're the people that go out and buy albums and they're the people that count at the end of the day.”
Wise words, Tom.
