The Rakes paid tribute to the Jersey crowds during their performance at the Jersey Live festival tonight (September 2nd).
Opening with a rousing version of ‘Retreat’ the band saluted the “beautiful Jersey” crowd who were lounging in the late summer sunshine.
Impressing the audience – who had just witnessed a lacklustre performance from the Super Furry Animals – the band ploughed through tracks from their latest offering, ‘Ten New Messages,’ including, ‘We Danced Together’ and ‘Suspicious Eyes.’
The Rakes frontman Alan Donohue unleashed his usual array of dance moves – which tonight looked like a cross between Jarvis Cocker and an easyjet flight attendant - throught the set.
After teasing the audience with ‘Work Work Work (Pub, Club, Sleep), where Donohue suggested that the audience all become rockstars, the band wrapped up their performance with ‘The World Was A Mess But His Hair Was Perfect.’
Still to come tonight we have performances from Audio Bully’s and a headline slot from Kasabian. For all the gossip, check out Gigwise’s blog, here.
