Reading Festival Hit By Sound Problems

Red Hot Chili Peppers suffer…

A number of performers at last weekends Carling Weekend: Reading Festival (August 24th-26th) have complained about sound problems during their set.

The Young Knives, Biffy Clyro and the Red Hot Chili Peppers performances have all come under scrutiny because of technical problems, according to reports.

The Red Hot Chili Pepper’s headlining slot on Saturday night was one of the main performances to be affected, with fans chanting for the band to turn it up throughout the set.

A spokesperson for the band, however, told NME that the problems arose after frontman Anthony Kiedis trod on a power cable during the band’s opener ‘Can’t Stop.’

The complaints echo those of the Killers at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in June, where continuous sound problems dampened the majority of their headlining slot.

Meanwhile, early-bird tickets for next year's Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals, which runs from August 22nd-24th, have gone on sale this morning.

  • RHCP were jus awful, it wasn’t the sound, it was the fact they played a crap set...without under the bridge and just mainly new stuff. They also didin’t seem into it atall or interact witht he crowd...I didnt’ meet one person who enjoyed seeing them.

  • Sorry Neil but I have to agree with Paul. I have seen the Chilis at Reading before (1999 I think?) and there is just no comparison between the two gigs. Bad sound certainly contributed but they just seemed bored up there. I have heard similar things about this summers Roskilde headlining slot... shame. I think they need to take a break for a year...

  • Saw this article and have to agree that the Chilis were way below par at Reading. Self indulgent and lethargic, they played like they were third on the bill, not true headliners. The Arcade Fire should have headlined that day. Hell, they deserved it more than the Chilis.

  • Chillis were Fuckin terrible. Self Indulgent gash. Loved to have been at the meeting where they decided tht instead of playing under the brudge or scar tissue what the crowd really wanted was a 25 minute funky jam improv.
