The Cure have cancelled their upcoming North American tour so they can finally polish off their new mammouth double album.
The veteran goth rockers were due to play the States this autumn but have now promised to reschedule the dates next year.
Singer Robert Smith writes on the band's website, "The schedule, as it stands, only gives us a couple of weeks to finish our new double album before we hit the road again, and we know this just isn't enough time to complete the project to our total satisfaction."
The band have already pushed back their upcoming album 12 months to Spring 2008 after admitting to "losing track of the number of songs we've got".
