Thurston Moore Attacks Young 'Rockers'

He's getting better with age...

Thurston Moore thinks young musicians like John Mayer and Avril Lavigne are so lame septuagenarians rock harder than they do.

The iconic Sonic Youth singer has recently played with Yoko Ono, and thinks such veterans show 'underground' artists get wilder with age.

He explains to Spin magazine, "I am playing with Yoko Ono, and she's well past 70 and she rocks. Neil Young rocks. It's certainly not John Mayer or Avril Lavigne. Those people don't rock.

"If that's the young generation in the culture, then forget it. In the underground, the old guys are cool. I like the fact that the older we get the more we can rock."

  • Some young people rocks ! Definitely. But not Lavigne or Mayer (bullshit rockers!). Thurston is right. People just need to take a look at the underground sometimes !

  • Remember when radio stations used to play what ever they wanted or what ever artist they liked? Perhaps the entire Darkside of the Moon or King Crimson album in the middle of the day? Maybe some Elvis Costello or a great unknown indie band? Well these young shits sure don’t remember those days because they grew up with corporate rock. They are a product of it. Perhaps the radio station is programmed by a corporate dork at some office, not even in the same city it’s being broadca
