A handgun belonging to Elvis Presley has been discovered by a cleaner in a row of portable toilets.
As we reported yesterday, the precious piece of memorabilia had been stolen from the Elvis After Dark museum in Memphis during the thirtieth anniversary commemorations of Elvis’ death.
Police were only made aware that the gun had been stolen after a member of the public noticed that a glass panel on the case had been unfastened.
Cleaner, Travis Brookins handed the gun into police on Monday following the media reports about the theft.
Brookins told police that he found the gun while cleaning portable toilets last Thursday but kept it because didn’t realise that it belonged to Elvis.
Memphis Police Lieutenant, Jerry Gwyn said: "He called us and said he thinks he had the gun and brought it to us."
Gwyn added that he believes the thief accidentally dropped the gun.
