Freckled with loveliness in parts, the guitar by lead Chris ‘Ev’ Etherington starts off with promise but it soon descends into romanticisms that are usually heard on radio shows that take requests from lovelorn teenagers. Tiny Dancers are obviously very talented but there’s something in David Kay’s vocals that sound like the man down the pub doing karaoke. It’s a heartfelt tale but this naval gazing lacks any real hook.‘Ashes and Diamonds’ is often used as a to closer the band’s live set and hearing the song in this context may add to its appeal but sadly alone as a single it fails to perform.
