Amy Winehouse’s mum has blamed the music industry on her daughter’s problems over recent months.
Winehouse cancelled her appearance at the V Festival at the weekend, as well as two support slots with the Rolling Stones on their European tour last week.
Speaking to a Sunday newspaper, Winehouse’s mum Janis slammed the music industry for causing her daughter’s alleged problems with drugs, saying that the singer couldn’t cope with the pressures of fame.
"I don't even think this is Amy's fault. I think her brain is addled. This isn't Amy. It's as if her whole life has turned into a stage performance,” explained her mother.
"To begin with, after she left home, she would ring me every day. Then, once she started travelling more, I started to feel a detachment.”
She added: "I think she was too young. She lacks the maturity to cope."
Winehouse has cancelled the rest of her touring schedule for August but is still due to perform an extensive UK tour in November.
