The funeral of the late Tony Wilson will take place later today at a private ceremony in Manchester.
The Factory Records founder died on August 10th after suffering a heart attack. Wilson had also been battling cancer.
Today’s funeral at St Mary's RC Church in Manchester city centre has been made invitation only at the request of Wilson’s family – who have asked fans to send flowers or make a donation to Christie's.
Wilson is heralded by many as being the key figure in the Manchester music scene having launched the careers of Joy Division, the Happy Mondays and New Order.
During the period dubbed ‘Madchester’ Wilson also started the infamous Hacienda night club and was still active in the city’s music scene up to is tragic death.
