Manic Street Preacher’s Nicky Wire has said that he thinks Snow Patrol are “utterly deplorable.”
Speaking ahead of the Manic Street Preacher’s appearance at this weekends V Festival (August 18th-19th), the bass player voiced his distain at the group – who are also playing at the event.
"Snow Patrol is the biggest divide in Britain. They're probably the biggest band in Britain, but they're also the most hated," he told NME. "It's a weird dichotomy for them. They are utterly deplorable, there is something unredeemingly utterly shit about them, you just cannot put one's finger on.”
Wire then went on to explain why he thought the band’s music was so divisive.
"It's a desperate form of music, the endless repeated lines, over and over, the same drab fucking little thing on and on and on. They're the great losers turned into the great winners, that's their redemption. I won't be watching them."

- as a fellow welshman im disapointed in the comments as i think they are a great band and i dont think the manics are living up to their potential as a band their latest album is fucking shit get a grip lads

- As much as I agree with the overall sentiment take a look at your back catalogue wire, nobody’s perfect and certainly nobody’s free from accusations of predictability - its your trade after all. Who would sign a band with a varied repertoire? the majors? the festivals? ho ho ho

- I used to think Snow Patrol were fantastic. But I saw them at the 02 arena and they were just boring really. Put me off listening them full stop. Background music. The Manics may have a typical sound now, but they’re tons more interesting than Snow Patrol.

- so what if manics have some less good albums in the past (i dont think they do, but thats my point) its his opinion, just like you are all voicing yours, why shouldnt he voice his just because he is a mainstreem musician?
good on you nicky
p.s. i agree with him

- At last! Yes! Nicky, you’re totally right! I’m not alone in the world!
