Lily Allen has been axed from appearing at the MTV Video Music Awards later this year because of visa problems, according to reports.
Allen had trouble with her US work visa earlier this month when she was detained for six hours by US customs and immigration.
The singer was questioned by officials over an incident in London in March where it was alleged that she assaulted a photographer.
According to the Daily Mirror, MTV organisers have now cancelled her appearance at the awards ceremony – which was due to be a collaboration with Kanye West – because of the incident.
A ‘source told the paper: "MTV were desperate to get Lily and they're furious with her visa situation. They've decided to pull the plug because they didn't want to leave it to the last minute to find out if she could or couldn't make it."
The Mirror added that Allen is now in talks to resolve the situation.
