A co-executor of the late James Brown’s will has quit his position and been forced to repay $350,000, according to reports.
David Cannon was accused in a court in Augusta, Georgia on Friday of misappropriating the soul singer’s money while handling the will.
Brown’s will has been the subject of much debate since he died at the end of last year with various people - including family members - arguing over the singer’s financial assets.
It’s understood that as well as leaving an allowance for his children – which, according to Louis Levenson, an Atlanta attorney, is untraceable – Brown had also established a ‘I Feel Good Trust’ for underprivileged children.
Browns former Pastor, The Rev. Larry Fryer, has said that he’s now worried that the ongoing court saga will squander what money Brown has left.
"If we're paying all of the money to all of the legal sources," Fryer told The Augusta Chronicle, "what's left for the children?"
A follow-up hearing has now been scheduled for September 24th.
