Veteran radio DJ ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris has begun radiotherapy treatment for cancer.
The 61-year-old was diagnosed with prostrate cancer five months ago and must now face a two month treatment programme.
Harris told the BBC, that he felt strengthened by the messages of support he’s received from fans and his work colleagues and says that he still hopes to travel to Nashville for the Country Music Association Awards in early November.
Hush-voiced Harris currently hosts two shows for Radio 2 – The Bob Harris Show and Bob Harris Country – but is perhaps best known for hosting the Old Grey Whistle Test in the 70’s.
