Pearl Jam launched attacks against American President George Bush and the oil company BP as they brought their set at last weekends Lollapalooza Festival to a close.
Playing the infamous Chicago festival on Sunday (August 5th) - in what will be their only US show of the year - the band used the set as an obvious political platform.
As the band treated the audience to rapturous renditions from their song library, frontman Eddie Vedder criticised oil company BP for their plans to dump oil into Lake Michigan.
Although BP Amoco have claimed it’s part of expansion, Vedder said to the crowd: "Think of it as a very pretty girlfriend who never brushes her teeth, don't kiss them."
Vedder – who is famous for his outspoken thoughts – then moved on to attack George Bush over the war in Iraq, reports Spinner.
As well as bringing an Iraq War veteran, Thomas Young on stage, who delivered an anti-war speech, Vedder also personally attacked President Bush when, during an impromptu version of Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick Wall,’ he changed the lyrics to, "George Bush, leave those kids alone."
