Radar – 'First To Last'

If you are starting to find all these ska-tinged records currently flying out of London a bit tiresome, there is a distinct possibility that any description of Radar’s music will cause you to run a mile. But try not to let the current proliferation of over-exposed, offbeat-loving mockneys put you off ‘First To Last’.  Coming on like a very stoned and melancholy Blur, the song shuffles along in a deceptively funky fashion as it reveals a tender, contemplative core. Unlike their peers, Radar eschew the annoying 2007 trend for being overly chirpy and jaunty.  However they clearly know how to pen a nice tune, keeping things short (it’s all over in barely 2 and a half minutes), simple and just a little bit bitter.
