‘Stars’ breezes pleasingly out of the speakers like a long lost slice of sixties West Coast psychedelia, all staccato organ bursts and perfect harmonies. Imagine a more mellow and playful Mooney Suzuki (from Manchester.) Or The Thrills, but not shit. The retro summer vibes only increase on second track ‘Chariot Song’ which is so achingly vintage it’s practically fellating Buffalo Springfield in a love-in off Haight and Ashbury. The terribly named Beep Seals won’t blow away the ‘Oasis-shaped cloud’ hanging over Manchester - as their press release claims – but they’d sound perfect soundtracking an LSD-fuelled road trip across America. Man.
