George Harrison’s widow has revealed that guitarist was left “shell shocked” by The Beatles worldwide fame.
Harrison – who died of cancer in December 2001 – apparently suffered from intense stress as the band’s notoriety rose during the 1960’s, according to his widow, Olivia Trinidad Arias.
"He was shell-shocked from the whole Beatle experience. Literally shell-shocked,” said Arias – who became Harrison's second wife when they married in 1978.
Harrison’s widow added that the couple spent much of their time after The Beatles travelling so that Harrison could escape the media spotlight.
"He hated loud noises. And imagine it all day, every day, for five or six years, people were screaming at you when you opened your door, jumping on the hood of your car, looking in your window. And then there were the death threats. He wanted to be far away. And he wanted sunshine.”
She continued: "George was always on a quest to get as far away as he could... I had the feeling that he travelled the planet simply to look for solitude."

- With respect Apollo, your comment is very unfair. Having said that it’s not your fault based on what you have read in the above article by Jason Gregory. The original article was in a recent magazine about homes and was about George’s home in Hamilton Island. It had beautiful photos and was a nice insight into the Harrison family’s personal life. The above article has been taken out of context.

- George needed to smoke some weed like Paul. That`s why Paul`s so calm and upbeat he has good weed.

- Maybe the Beatles would have stayed together in some capacity if the ****heads didn’t drive them crazy

- How any human could go through that kind of experience and NOT come out the worse for wear I don’t know, most of us have no idea what it’s like to completely lose our privacy for nearly a decade....I’d run, too!
