This year’s Lodestar Festival in Cambridgeshire has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
Event organisers have blamed the terrible weather conditions that hit June and July for the lack of interest in the festival.
The festival was due to start on August 31, and features the likes of The Rakes, Idlewild, The Bees, Maps, Badly Drawn Boy and The Pigeon Detectives.
Festival organiser Doug Durrant told 6music: “Despite a tremendous amount of effort in marketing the festival, unfortunately, we were battling against all the pictures and reports about the dreadful weather we’ve been having this year.”
Durrant continued that despite good weather being forecast for the rest of August, he can’t see a turnaround in sales.
He continued: “Well, ticket sales were fairly low, and totally reflective of the weather up until today (July 31). The weather might have turned around, but it’s really come too late for LodeStar.
“As director I had the responsibility of considering everybody involved with supplying services for the festival, and it was a judgement based on where we stand today.”
