‘Take it like a Man’ is the latest offering from Canadian funksters Dragonette. With a synthpop, electro-rock feel, its sexy style is akin to the likes of Goldfrapp. It seems to grow as you listen to it, adding more powerfully complicated rifts while shaking up the tempo. Lead singer Martina provides interesting vocals that hold back from diva-like melodrama and favour a cleaner style, while the background instrumental is less about melody and more about creating a pumping experience. With female singers as common today as an exclusive interview with Jordan, it could be hard for a female-led band to stand out, but with their laid back, effortlessly sexy style, Dragonette shouldn’t find it too difficult.
