Phil Spector Actress Death ‘Most Likely Suicide’

A forensic pathologist has told the court at Phil Spector’s murder trial that Lana Clarkson most likely killed herself.

Spector is accused of murdering the B movie actress – who died of a single gunshot wound – in February 2003. Ms Clarkson’s body was found at Spector’s house.

Forensic pathologist, Dr Werner Spitz told the courtroom in Los Angeles: "In my opinion, it is most likely a suicide."

He added that decisions made by an LA County deputy medical examiner who deemed that the actress had been murdered had been “hasty,” reports the BBC.

Dr Spitz’s testimony echoed those of other witnesses who had said that blood splatter on Spector’s clothes meant he could not have been close enough at the time of the shooting.

The forensic pathologist said yesterday: “Mr Spector could not have had his finger on that trigger because he wasn't close enough."

If convicted Spector will face life in prison for the crime.
