Joni Mitchell has followed Paul McCartney’s lead and has signed for the Starbucks owned label Hear Music.
Her upcoming album ‘Shine’ will be released via the imprint on September 25 and as always it will be available in Starbucks stores and all the usual outlets.
Mitchell worked with the label on the 2005 compilation ‘Artist’s Choice’ and struck a bond with them. Three years earlier she had threatened to quit the music industry after the release of her long-player Travelogue.
Speaking to Billboard, Starbucks Entertainment president Ken Lombard said: "Joni acknowledged back in 2005 that not only was she very, very impressed with our commitment to music and our customers' love of music, but that the compilation really helped to re-energize her passion for music.
"As we continue to have discussions with respect to this new CD, it is obvious to us that she's back, in a big way."
