Blur’s Alex James has been signed up by Classic FM to present a show that will look into how the classical genre has influenced pop music.
The show will be yet another new role for the Britpop bands bass player, who has also turned his hand to Organic farming since Blur’s last album, ‘Think Tank,’ was released in 2003.
James’ show, ‘When Classic Meets Pop,’ will be a three part series, beginning on August 4th and will include songs by artists such as Barry Manilow and Eric Carmen.
Talking about the new show, James told the Guardian: “Why would I want to listen to Hard-Fi piffling around when there is Rossini? Bring me cellos. Bring me French horns. Bring me a choir. And some cannons, maybe, for the end."
As previously reported, James released his autobiography, ‘A Bit Of A Blur’ last month – which has suggested that a full Blur reunion is on the cards for later this year.
