Philosophy always told you to never judge a book by its cover, but Jesus, when a song’s called ‘Hardcore Porn’, you can’t help but get a little distracted from what actually plays out of the CD. Never fear though, it’s not quite as graphic an affair as you may have hoped. In fact, rather unfortunately, it’s on the dull side of the sound spectrum. With Kooks-esque chords, it’s hardly a track that links to any influence beyond modern bland indie music. The endingis likely to lighten the listeners’ opinion up a bit but it’s nothing to shout about. It could be worse but The Tacticians could have achieved a lot more, especially with such an eye-catching, gutsy title.
Released 23/07/07 on Setanta Records
