Bookmakers William Hill have now named Amy Winehouse as the firm favourite to scoop the Nationwide Mercury Prize.
The Camden alehouse is 5/2 to win the coveted gong in September, with Arctic Monkeys coming in at 5/1. On the initial odds they were joint favourite to win at 4/1.
Jamie T’s odds have been slashed from 8/1 to 6/1 for his album ‘Panic Prevention’, while the Klaxons’s ‘Myths of the Near Future’ remains at the respectable 8/1.
The rest of the list remains largely unchanged, as no doubt the bookmakers are unwilling to take any huge risks at this early stage.
Meanwhile, Winehouse plays her rearranged Summer Pops show tonight.
