Rihanna Set To Break Singles Chart Record

If she clocks up her tenth week...

July 18, 2007 by Scott Colothan

Rihanna is expected to be a record breaker this weekend, as the singer is on course for a tenth consecutive week at number one with ‘Umbrella.’

If she does so, it will be the longest stretch at the top spot this century and the longest serving since Wet Wet Wet’s ‘Love Is All Around’ back in 1994 which notched up a huge 15 weeks at number one.

Just last year Gnarls Barkley’s crazy spent nine weeks at number one – an achievement 19-year-old Rihanna is certain to top.

Of course, the longest serving number one ever on these shores was Bryan Adams with ‘Everything I Do (I Do It For You’ which clocked up an impressive 16 weeks in 1991.
