Disillusioned by the current trend for angular guitars and new-wave production, London-based Zico Chain seem determined to fly the flag for rock. Indeed, a quick listen to the opening seconds of static on ‘Anaemia’ will immediately provide a forewarning for those of a more pop bent. Warm distortion soon kicks in of course and monolithic guitars threaten to tear up the speaker grills with the ferocity of Therapy’s “Screamager”. Purists might baulk at the Americanised rasping of front man, Chris Glithero, but for everyone else, this is a fine reminder of British steel.
