A pair of spectacles worn by former Beatle John Lennon have become the subject of an online bidding war.
The glasses – which Lennon last wore during a 1966 tour of Japan – have so far attracted a top big of £750,000 on auction site 991.com.
991’s sales director John Warner told the BBC: “The interest has been phenomenal, our phones have been in meltdown."
The spectacles were put up for auction by an American collector, although they were originally given to a Japanese translator by Lennon as parting gift.
The auction – which runs until July 31st - is reported to be attracting serious interest from American millionaires.
