A reunion for journeyman Gopher with Air’s Dunckel and Godin, this is actually a pretty decent stab at post-LCD electro purring. The likely issue will be where will Alex Gopher fit in to anyone’s musical life? ‘The Game’ has all the new-rave and modern electro traits to be well loved, but you feel like too many folks are out there doing this better already. As such, considering the huge amount of other projects listed on his CV, you have to imagine this could be a little cynical. Impossible to say, but putting out a record that sounds so deeply indebted to the current indie scene typified by New Young Pony Club and LCD Soundsystem’s twin towers of ice-cold stomping electro-buzz just reeks of opportunism. That’s not to say this is a bad record aesthetically, but there is little of the character needed to makes this essential.
