Sheffield’s The Dodgems, one of Alan McGee’s latest signings and tipped for the big time, continue their riotous assault on the indie-rock scene with the download only ‘You’re Not What You Used To Be’. The four-piece’s Boisterous rampaging guitars, a dirty underlying organ, rapid self-assured and wired vocals with a chorus to match combine in a frenzy of transmittable energy to create 3-and-a-half minutes of edgy and persistent confidence that almost guarantees a vicious non-stop night out at breakneck speed, with the promise of plenty more to come. It’s a well trodden path, albeit with a whiff of Jet, but one that to their credit is executed with raw talent and unrestrained fervour.
Released 23/07/07 on No Carbon Records
