System Of A Down bass player Shavo Odadjian has revealed plans to launch a unique online social networking site which doubles as a record label for new artists.
UrSession.com not only allows people to use the online community like current websites such as Myspace, but bands who upload their music will also be auditioned to win a record contract.
Speaking about the website Odadjian said: “It’s the first online label to actually audition artists via audio uploads and video uploads.”
He told Rolling Stone: “I thought if urSession could be a big art-district community, so then the community votes for who I sign. So after a 10-month, 11-month running of artists, whoever gets the most votes, I go over and I sign.”
The site – which will launch later this summer – is currently a digital only service, although, Odadjian added that he had discussed developing the idea with record labels.
